Hi, I’m Ashley

I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance/Professionals. I started practicing yoga at university in 2011. Following school, I worked in the dental industry for almost 10 years. Sadly, this job contributed to the chronic pain that seemed to only worsen with time. I found it difficult to find the joy in my day-to-day routine, cleaning teeth and engaging with my patients. Yoga was the only activity that effectively relieved my mental and physical stressors caused by work. The more I practiced, the better I felt. As the years have gone by, I now teach these practices through a shifted mindset. Now, being in my postpartum journey, I believe it more than ever that our bodies are in a constant state of stress. I keep finding myself craving a state of conscious rest, allowing my body to relax and reset my nervous system.

I believe that our health is a holistic approach. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Studies and a Diploma in Dental Hygiene, I have a true passion for incorporating an understanding of anatomy and biomechanics into my practice. I have completed my 200hr YTT with Forest & Waves Yoga Studio (formerly Coastal Bliss Yoga) in Tofino, BC, Canada. I have also completed my 50hr Yin Yoga Teacher Training, as well as courses on Pre & Post-Natal Yoga, and Restorative Yoga. My teachers include Jacky Challenger, Heidi Macpherson, Rebekka Walker, Natalie Rousseau, Bernie Clark and Diana Batts.

What is Yoga to me?

Yoga is about the holistic presence and connection within myself. With the constant change and growth in my life, yoga is a true form of self-love. It allows me to come back to myself time and again, no matter how many times I may feel lost or disconnected from my true Self. Taking the time to flow, or be still and reflect, the mindfulness and breathwork in my practice allows me to just be. Yoga is my antidote.
